Why? While holding your phone the thumb placement is near the top of the phone itself by the position of the hand. While using a computer they switch the numbers due to the fact that your hand would be closer to the bottom of the keyboard than the top. I'm a late 20's (some say early 30's but I'm in denial) Occupational Therapist/Web developer/Photographer/Bum (delete as appropriate). I currently live in a little market town called Princes Risborough in Bucks, England, UK, the World.
